Encore Path Entrepreneur Recognized at Women In Bio 2008 Annual Dinner: Women Who Have Launched Life Sciences Companies Honored at Event

Washington, DC - - - Entrepreneur Kristen Appel, CEO of Encore Path, was one of the female executives recognized at the Women in Bio Annual Dinner, held Thursday, March 20 at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. With the theme of “Lead and Inspire: Translating Science into Business,” the dinner event is an important platform for the non-profit Women in Bio organization to highlight its commitment to nurturing and encouraging entrepreneurship and career development of women in the life science industry.

All women who have launched life sciences companies in the past year are recognized during the dinner. Appel formed Encore Path in 2006 to improve the quality of life for stroke patients, and launched the company in 2007. Encore Path’s debut product, currently called BATRAC (Bilateral Arm Trainer with Rhythmic Auditory Cueing) is a unique treatment device that retrains the patient’s motor pathways through auditory cueing paired with arm movements on a bi-tracked device. The BATRAC will be available for patients to order in 2009.
